Where does chain link work best?
- Side yards and back lot lines where privacy is not the point.
- Dog runs and play areas.
- Vacant lots, storage yards and commercial properties.
- Temporary fencing around a construction site.
How is chain link built to code in Hialeah?
Hialeah's fence requirements use the Florida Building Code's chain link table (Section 2224). Fabric has to be at least 12½ gauge, and post sizes and footings grow with the fence height. For example, line posts on a fence up to six feet are 1⅝ inches set in 8 by 24-inch footings. Chain link over 12 feet has to be designed for the full wind loads of the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone.
Galvanized or coated?
Galvanized is the budget pick. Black or green vinyl-coated chain link costs more but hides better against landscaping and adds rust protection. Privacy slats are available; keep in mind they make the fence act like a solid wall in a storm.
What does chain link cost?
As of October 2026, Angi's national guide lists chain link at about $8 to $40 per linear foot installed, and HomeGuide at about $9 to $30. Coated fabric, taller fences and gates push the price up.
