Which gate is right for my driveway?
- Rolling gate. Runs on wheels along a track or the ground, parallel to the fence. Best when there is no room for a gate to swing.
- Double swing gate. Two leaves that open in the middle. Needs clear space behind the gate for the swing.
- Walk gate. A single gate at the front walk or side yard, matched to the fence.
What does Hialeah require for a rolling gate?
Hialeah's fence and rolling gate requirements include a structural detail for rolling gates and a mandatory foundation inspection before the concrete is poured. We schedule that inspection, pour the base and set the posts so the gate rolls level.
Can you add an opener?
Yes. An automatic opener turns a heavy rolling gate into a button press. Electrical work is permitted separately from the fence, and we coordinate both so the opener, safety sensors and gate go in together.
Why do rolling gates jump the track?
Most of the time it is a worn wheel, a bent track, a gate that was never level, or debris in the track. Sometimes the post holding the gate has shifted. We fix the cause, not just the symptom. See fence and gate repair.
What about pool gates?
Any gate into a pool area must close and latch on its own. Hialeah's requirements put the self-closing and latching device at least 54 inches above the ground. See pool fences.
