Fences in Miami Springs, FL

Miami Springs sits just south of Hialeah, next to Miami International Airport. Its streets are older and shadier, and its fence checklist is specific. We know it.

What does Miami Springs ask for on a fence permit?

The City of Miami Springs publishes a fence permit checklist. As of October 2026 it includes:

  • A permit application signed and notarized by the owner and the contractor.
  • Two copies of a survey less than one year old, and two copies of a site plan showing the work.
  • A signed and sealed specification sheet for PVC or metal fences.
  • The city's fence detail for vertical wood, chain link or masonry fences.

Which side of the fence faces out?

The finished side. The checklist cites city code section 150-013: the unfinished side and supporting members face the inside of the property, toward the owner. If you want it the other way, the city allows an affidavit to waive the requirement. With a shadowbox or board-on-board fence, both sides look finished anyway.

What about the big trees?

Miami Springs has a lot of mature shade trees, and their roots often run right along the property line. We lay out posts to avoid major roots where we can, and adjust spacing within what the design allows.

What fences suit Miami Springs homes?

Wood and vinyl privacy fences in back yards, low aluminum or iron fences in front, and chain link along alleys and side yards.
